Inspired by the waste problem I encountered during my travels in Southeast Asia I started to explore the possibilities of reusing household plastic waste. Experimenting with this material, I discovered two promising possibilities. Melting plastic bags together with an ironer makes strong plastic sheets. These sheets can be sewed and folded into various objects, see the laptop sleeve in the images for example. I furthermore melted plastic into a doughy substance and experimented casting it. This resulted in a beautiful marble-like material which can for example be used in kitchen or bathroom tiles.

The products designed do not conceal that they are made of reused plastic waste but rather emphasize this fact.

This project is not only meant to ask attention for the plastic waste we are constantly generating, but also meant to make people aware of the value that their waste still has. This is why the products designed do not conceal that they are made of reused plastic waste but rather emphasize this fact.
